Chad Schulz, Trustee
Appointed June 1, 2020
Why I Love EPL
For Board Trustee, Chad Schulz, EPL is a place where his two daughters can explore their creativity and expand their knowledge. “Every visit to an EPL branch results with one or both of them engaging with staff and being guided through the experience by someone knowledgeable,” said Chad. “The only downside, is the inevitable mountain of books I have to lug back to the car.”
For Chad and his family, EPL is a community hub where all members of the community are treated with dignity, respect and care. “I love the fact that it is free and open to everyone. It is important to me that there are public spaces where people from everywhere can come together and enjoy the space and resources equally.”
It is EPL’s mission to provide Edmontonians access to opportunities for endless possibility and learning that drives Chad as a Board Trustee. “My involvement as an EPL trustee has given me something positive to focus on and is fed by a desire to do something in my community for an organization that I believe in.”
One area of focus that Chad feels alignment with is EPL’s commitment to providing free public computer and internet access—a service he believes is essential. “I simply cannot express how important this service is for so many Edmontonians,” says Chad, “Access to the internet has to be seen as a right for all Canadians. EPL addresses this and continues to provide Edmontonians with access to knowledge in one way or another.”
