For immediate release:
EDMONTON, AB, April 1, 2019 – The Edmonton Public Library (EPL) completed a full fleet of epl2go Literacy Vans in 2017, and now it’s time to take to the skies with the latest in drone technology.
In a first for public libraries, EPL is launching four literacy drones to deliver materials to cardholders. epl2go Air will reduce transportation barriers and will make library resources easily accessible wherever customers are.
“EPL continues to invest in ways to provide fast, free and exceptional service to Edmontonians,” said Pilar Martinez, Chief Executive Officer of the Edmonton Public Library. “We are thrilled to have four new delivery drones, bringing knowledge, literacy and more where they’re needed and wanted the most.”
A text will be delivered to cardholders who opt-in to this service notifying them of an incoming delivery. This will instruct users to clear all pets from the area to ensure epl2go Air does not fly into or startle animals.
The four literacy drones were made possible through support from generous donors. More information about using the new service and when it will be rolled out can be found at epl.ca/epl2goAir
