Book Stocker:
- Stock Book Sale materials from the basement to the sales floor, ensuring that tables are fully stocked.
- Sort materials ensure they are in the correct categories.
- Answer customer questions about item locations and pricing.
Cashier:
- Calculate total cost using tally sheets and pricing information.
- Process cash payments and provide change.
- Process transactions via the POS machine.
- Record purchase amount on the tally sheets.
- Manage your cash box.
- Answer customer questions about items locations and pricing.
Floating Volunteers:
- Monitor customer capacity in the Book Sale area.
- Calculate cost receipts for customers waiting in line.
- Assist cashiers with counting large purchases.
- Support with restocking.
- Answer customer questions about item locations and pricing.
Book Stocker Requirements:
- Physically able to lift boxes up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to read English and categorize donated materials.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good judgement skills.
- Reliable.
- 16 years of age or older.
Cashier Volunteer Requirements:
- Ability to calculate and process cash transactions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good judgment and interpersonal skills.
- Prior cashier experience preferred.
- 18 years of age or older.
- A Clear Police Information Check is a requirement for this role.
Floating Volunteer Requirements:
- Ability to calculate and process cash.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good judgment and interpersonal skills.
- Prior cashier/stocker experience preferred.
- 16 years of age or older.
Length of Commitment:
- Minimum one year, ongoing
Time Commitment:
- Minimum of 4 shifts per year (1 shift per Book Sale)
- 4 hours per shift
We are primarily looking for volunteers available on Fridays and Sundays.
Orientation / Training
- On-site orientation and training provided at your first shift.
